Bernard O’Rourke is a writer, filmmaker and journalist.
His poetry & short fiction have appeared in Spelk, Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine, The Tangerine, The Bohemyth, The Incubator, Queen Mob’s Teahouse, The Bogman’s Canon, The Honest Ulsterman, TheEEEL, and Wordlegs. His writing also featured in A Box of Starts Beneath the Bed, an anthology published by National Flash-Fiction Day and Gumbo Press, and in 30 Under 30, an anthology of new Irish writing published by Doire Press and Wordlegs.
His video work has been shortlisted for the Ó Bhéal Poetry Film Prize and the Doolin Writers’ Weekend Video Poetry Prize.
As a spoken word artist, he has performed at Arcadian Field, Lingo Festival, NYF Dublin, Culture Night, Just Words, Indie Spirit Dublin, The Monday Echo, Flying South, and more.
As a journalist, he has written for RTÉ, The Irish Independent, The Visual Artists’ News Sheet, Totally Dublin, Magill, GoldenPlec and HeadStuff.
Bernard has a BA in English and Philosophy from Maynooth University and a MA in Journalism from Technological University Dublin.
